5831398, Private, Ronald Jack BOWMAN
Aged 29

1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment (The Buffs)
Died on Sunday 13th August 1944

Born in Q2-1915 [Newmarket 3b:806] to Frederick and Elizabeth BOWMAN (née KNIGHTS), of Exning.

He was married in Newmarket in Q2-1938 to Dorothy Ruby BROWN.

In the 1939 register Dorothy has not been identified, but at Cotton End, Exning were his widower father Frederick W [19-10-1882] stud hand; brother Douglas T [24-1-1909] a studman and his wife Audrey E [4-6-1910] née MAYES, and brother Peter D [24-11-1930]. His mother had died in 1931.

Nothing is so far known of the circumstances of his death, other than that he had been temporarily buried elsewhere and re-interred in Florence in February 1945. The Grave Registration Unit reports of these burials are not scanned and placed on line as some contain details that are considered harrowing.
